Clinical Research Unit

Clinical Research Unit & Vaccine Challenge Unit

To expand research capacity, CCfV added a state-of-the-art Clinical Research & Sanofi Pasteur Vaccine Challenge Unit, the first of its kind in Canada. This facility allows for vaccine challenge studies and other inpatient research such as studies of infectious disease transmission, antimicrobial effectiveness and pharmacokinetics. The challenge unit consists of a 10-bed inpatient unit with single isolation rooms. Clinical researchers have access to full-spectrum infrastructure and resources needed to conduct clinical research, including but not limited to the preparation of ethics/regulatory submissions, statistical and data management support, nursing support for inpatient and outpatient data collection, protocol-specific interventions, and all other trial-related activities.
