Dr. Lisa Barrett

Biography

Dr. Barrett is an assistant professor at Dalhousie University. She established, and currently leads, the Senescence, Aging, Infection and Immunity Laboratory (SAIL) at Dalhousie University. Some of Dr. Barrett’s research interests include HCV treatment for vulnerable populations, the impact of Hepatitis C infection and viral clearance on immunologic aging, and the modulation of the immune response to generate therapeutic and prophylactic vaccines in persistent viral infections. Dr. Barrett has become a known advocate for community health, conducting media interviews nationally to increase public literacy about COVID-19 prevention and risk. Her efforts to establish accessible pop-up rapid-testing in Nova Scotia early in the COVID-19 pandemic was recognized by St. John Ambulance with a Silver Life-Saving Award in 2021.
