Experts recommend that kids get a flu vaccine this fall. Kids who are looking for extra protection against COVID-19 have the option of a COVID vaccine, too.

“The influenza vaccine is a great idea and it’s a very safe vaccine,” said Dr. Joanne Langley, a pediatric infectious disease doctor at the IWK Health Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

She said it’s not only a way of protecting yourself, but getting a shot also protects people around you.

“You’re not only less likely to get the flu, but you’re also less likely to transfer it to, say, your grandparents, who could get really sick.”
