Please fill out the form below and we will be in touch shortly.

Participants needed: 18 years and older

Why are we doing this study?

The purpose of this study is to see if a high-dose influenza (“flu”) vaccine is able to safely prevent worsening or new heart and lung symptoms compared to the standard-dose influenza vaccine. In this study adults with a history of either a heart attack or heart failure will be enrolled in the study and will receive either the regular influenza vaccine or the high dose vaccine prior to the usual influenza season. After receiving the vaccine participants will be followed by study staff for up to three years to record whether they require hospitalization for illness due to a cardiac (heart) or respiratory (lung) illness.

Who can participate?

We are looking for participants aged 18 years and older who have had either:

  • heart failure (in the past 2 years), or
  • a heart attack (in the past year)

Participants who have already received their flu shot are not eligible to enrol. Please contact our study coordinator for more information.
